OK heres the deal, I want to upgrade. So I am looking at ebay, crucial and here for RAM.
So on crucial I go to check out what type of RAM I need fill in all the questions and heres what i get. when I click on the "ibook G4" I get PC2100 and when I click on the "ibook G4 12 inch" I get PC2700. How do I know which one is mine because I do have a G4 and it is 12 inch? Why are they different?

The reason you are getting those results is probably beacuse only the new ibook use PC2700 ram all the old ibooks with DDR used 2100. Also the ram on crucial is a little expensive, might I suggest this; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145068 if you are looking for a 1GB stick. Works great in my ibook and no problems at all. Also as a side note is ok if you get ram that is faster than your system (i.e you put 3200 ram in a system that takes 2700 etc.). Different story if you put in slower ram though.

It depends on the age of your iBook G4. THe newest ones 1.33 12" and 1.42 GHz 14" use PC2700, the earlier ones use PC2100.

However, you can safely use the PC2700 for the new iBook models, across all of the iBook G4's, so purchase the PC2700s.

I would avoid eBay. Choose a reputable seller who tests and guarantees compatibility with your model Mac, offers a lifetime warranty and a no cost return if it doesn;t work (no restocking charges).

If you are in the USA, members here have recommended Crucial, OWC, and Data Memory Systems

Thanks
