I don 't see an iBook area so I'll post this here...

I have a 12" 2001 iBook that looks like its been thru WWIII---the CD tray is broken off, the screen hinge is broken, no battery... but I only use it to run MIDI so as long as its still breathing, I'll use it.
My question is.... can I remove the screen (hinge and all ) and still use an external display? The hinge is hanging by a thread, but I guess the wires are still connected, because the display still works & I have an external display too. I just wanna chuck the screen and use the external... is it doable? Thanks...........
