ibook vs powerbook vs imac for college

got the ibook 12" :) it comes friday, i'm quite excited, i am probably going to buy the benQ m310 wireless mouse, the stm rebound case, 1 GB ram, and somewhere down the line a decent external hd, 17 or 19" display (i'm going to test the screen spanning hack on some school monitors before i decide), wireless keyboard. BTW, should i get that 100$ ram at newegg?
 
I've had a very good run with my 12" iBook G3 (one logic board issue that doesn't happen with G4s, Apple was very good) so I have been planning on getting another 12" iBook again soon -- this time with well over 256 MB RAM and AppleCare, though. 3-year Applecare is probably a good idea for a computer for school.
 
ya it isn't too expensive, but i'mnot going to get it until my 1 year is almost up
