Hello All,

I am new to iBA and have been trying to use the program to convert safety modules into eBooks for work (for use on the iPad, where videos, etc. can be embedded). Currently, we have hundreds of modules out there (with hundreds of pages each).

While inserting a word document into iBA (.doc format), I find that I lose a lot of the original formatting when the document appears in iBA. Everything that was originally part of a numbered list becomes altered as soon as it is inserted.

Granted, I could go through and edit all word documents appropriately and then insert them into iBA, but there are hundreds and hundreds of modules. I imagine there must be something I am missing, so I hope someone out there can help.

I have attached some screenshots of the original word file (viewed in OpenOffice for Mac), and the altered iBA file after it is inserted.

Thanks in advance. Hopefully someone can help me.

Copying Word docx into iBA will not work..as you found.
You can strip out the images...paste the text...edit and reformat...then place images where you need them.
You can either use the flowing text...or insert text boxes.
If you have loads of stuff...its gonna be tedious.

iBA strips out any formatting when pasting and the content is then taken over by the templates style settings...some will be applied..others will be missed.

Basically you need to prepare the text in a basic text editor or strip out formatting in Word or Pages and start from there.

What about Page's formatting works with iBa? :apple:

Not when you block copy a long doc complete with images and page formatting.
I agree in some instances...I can use Pages to strip out formatting...but the problem posed was to make a copy from word and paste into iBa
