I'm going to get a 12" iBook. If you play the waiting game, you never get anything. Just bite the bullet and get something. You'll like it no matter what. Who knows if they'll even update anything, maybe they're unstocking for some intel-mac introductions. I don't think they want a million PPC products in stock when they have the intel's to market. They're loosing enough money as it is. Why make computers when noone will buy them a month before intels are out.

I'm fed up with waiting. I'm buying a Dell laptop, wiping the drive and installing Linux (Fedora).

Then Apple will update the iBook the next day ;)

Apple is losing even more money by allowing these highly-outdated iBooks to remain on the market. I mean, lets be reasonable. They are VERY out of date and I can't imagine why Apple has waited this long to update them. Look at the buyer's guide, Apple has NEVER waiting even close to this long to update the iBooks. It is abolutely out of the question to wait until Intel iBooks come out before they are updated. That means that these current iBooks will be well over a year old by the time they are updated!! That simply is not going to happen. Come on, Apple! Step up to the plate!! The iBooks are old!!

They arn't that old.

I'd say wait another 20 or so Days. The PowerBooks are currently at 162 days and there average is 185. And In April Both the PB's and iBooks were updated at the same time.

So maybe that will happen again.

If you need one now buy it, But I'd wait until the end of July/Beginning of August if you want an updated Book.

I thought the 12" IBook was excluded from the Student Union deal? At least, it is in Canada (if you read the fine print).

I believe that is only the CD-ROM drive model. The 12" Combo qualifies though.

The fine print specifies the CD-ROM model as excluded. Otherwise I would not have gotten an iPod Mini with my 12" iBook.

they're just updated.

i'm placing my bets on the 500,000,000 itunes event or 20 days.
