iOS requirements for iBooks?

The system requirements Apple is listing for iBooks, is iOS 3.2 or later. But isn't the iPad the only iOS device that was released with iOS 3.2, with the next version being 4.0? I'm not aware of an iOS 3.2 update for any iPhone--as far as I was aware, 3.1.3 was the last iOS version for all iPhones except the iPhone 4, prior to iOS 4.0.

I have an original iPhone "2G", running iOS 3.1.2. Accessing the App Store via my iPhone didn't list iBooks for me, so I downloaded it via iTunes on my Mac, then synced my iPhone to my Mac. When iTunes tried to install iBooks, an alert appeared saying it couldn't be installed on my iPhone "because it requires a newer version of iPhone software."

Is anybody getting iBooks to install and work on iPhones running iOS 3.1.2 or 3.1.3? Or is there really an iOS 3.2 update for the iPhone that I didn't know about? If there is, it's not showing up for me in iTunes.

I now have iBooks on my iPad, iPhone 3G and 2G Touch. I love it on my iPad but its horrendous on the other two platforms. I hope to god it runs significantly better on the i4.

I got it to work using itunes on my PC...Here is the screen shot of my phone..It works great:

sweet so excited to get my iphone 4!! i like the new look.. still was able to do it in jailbreak but still like it haha

So can everyone here confirm that if they're now running iBooks on an iPhone/iPod Touch, that they're also running iOS4?

I didn't think this would be something that I was interested in especially since I thought books would cost about $15. I just bought a book for $3.99. I see most others are about $6.99 on average. I think I will start reading again. It's been about 10 years since I last read a book. :)
