I can purchase a Kindle book from Amazon and read it on Kindle reader apps on my iMac, IPhone and iPad. But in spite of the "new" app for the iPhone, there is not an iBooks app for the Mac. If Apple truly wishes to challenge Amazon for ebook dominion then they must address this obvious omission. And I don't care what "other" ways there are to read an iBook on a Mac. They are not particularly easy, definitely not seamless, and when compared to the Kindle reader are not even particularly well-constructed. Call me when there's an iBooks app for Macs. Until then, I'll buy my books from Kindle and direct from the authors (like CJ Cherryh) and read them on my various Kindle readers.
