iBooks not syncing across devices

I have an iPhone and iPad with iOS5 GM, yet my iBooks collections are not syncing.

I have enabled sharing of my collections on both my devices.

Do books need to be downloaded through iBookstore for this to be work? Most of the books I've put into iTunes are from my own eBooks or PDFs.

Any advice?

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to get bookmarks and notes made in eBooks and PDF's synced across devices or are you trying to get all the actual eBook and PDF files synced across devices?
