Just downloaded the minor update. Release notes are at the app's page in the App Store.

edit: It seems the bookshelf scrolling is noticeably smoother. Also, opening a book seems faster. (I have 165 books installed.) It'll be interesting to see what others notice. Probably YMMV.

From the App Store:

What's New in Version 1.0.1
  • Changes how new iBooks users are provided their complimentary copy of Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne.
  • Addresses issues to improve performance.

i cant seem to get ibooks on ipad
it keeps saying error and doesnt install the app although it alerts me in itunes that its available

It seems that sometimes iTunes is "aware" of an update, but all the hooks into their system haven't been completed. Give it a little time and try again.

Another thought is to try and update directly through the iPad.
