macOS ICal event listener in Applescript

Hi,

I am writing a calendar application, and want to use the GUI of iCal to present as a the main calendar to the user. This means that I have to capture the events that a user adds via the GUI, and then perform the needed operations in my application.

I have never used applescript before, but I noticed that adding events to a calendar is very easy. Listening to changes apparently isn't, can you guys give me a hint on how to do it?

what I am actually asking is if there is a mechanism for automatic push notification for the information of the calendar.

Another solution would be pulling every 5 seconds or so, but this could cause a lot of overhead of course.
