I really want to use my iPad's calendar feature. Every time I use it and try to sync through mobile me it either deletes stuff or duplicates it. I have tried inputting that info in the ical on my mac and I am still having the same problem. I am so worried that I will miss an appointment or something. My mac iCal doesn't stay the same as the iPad. What am I doing wrong? Please help. I am new to mobile me.. perhaps I have a setting set wrong? :(

Hi, I have been using iCal on my Macs and iPhone successfully for a few years now.

My Diary is the hub of my business and has to work faultlessly. I have had very few problems using this setup. Recently I have also been experimenting with my iPad with great success.

How do you input most of your info? Calendar in MobileMe, iCal on Mac, iCal on iPad, or Calendars on iPhone? I mainly use iCal on Mac.

Remember to go to System settings on your Mac, then MobileMe. Click the Sync tab and make sure there is a check in the Calendars box and syncronize with MobileMe (Selecting "Automatically" will ensure your info is pushed to the cloud straight away).

Make a few test entries in iCal on your Mac.

Changes should appear on the web (https://www.me.com/calendar/) You will need to refresh the page to see subsequent changes.

If that all works, you know you are up and running.

On your iPad you need to go into Settings, click "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" choose "Add Account...", Choose "MobileMe" and fill in your details. Click next then choose the services you want on your iPad making sure that "Calendars is set to"ON".

The setup for the iPhone is pretty much the same as the above.

You should now be good to go. It can take a while for a large calendar database to load in to your iPad or iPhone, but once it's there you shouldn't experience any lag.

Do remember that "Push" will take 30-60 seconds to work and longer if you are relying on a weak 3G signal.

I have only once seen appointments duplicate themselves on one calendar (I have five running concurrently). I could not resolve the issue. Some appointments could not be deleted at all! I think the database was corrupted so I set up another calendar on my Mac, copied the appointments over, and once happy, deleted the original. All was well. None of the other four calendars had the problem.

I have not had any appointments disappear.

It is always a good idea to make regular back-ups on your Mac. In iCal click on "File" and then "Back Up iCal..."

I wish you luck. It's a great system that you should be able to rely on. Once you have run through these details, let us know how you get on.

I also use iCal on both my Macs, and use MobileMe to syn between them and iPhone/iPad. Works really well.
