ical no syncing with iphone 4

HI, Firstly, I hope that this is in the correct place as I feel it is an icloud problem?

I am trying to sync my iCal events/dates from my iMac to my iPhone4.

My events in iCal on my mac say they are in "On My Mac". How do I make it so that it is icloud.

I have been trying, but to no avail.

However, I have a 5th gen ipod touch and that works fine, just not my iphone 4.

I would be gladly appreciate some help on this problem.
