As a note as well, video conferencing is certainly not a new technology (been in EU for quite some time)

Yeah, it was one of the prime things that our first 3G advertisements started off with. I didn't make even a single video call with my old Nokia though, it just seemed so very pointless even if you put aside the cost factor.

I agree that it had a slight wow factor when the feature was mentioned, but in practicality it has failed to impress and gamin widespread use. Maybe ahead of its time? Maybe Apple will get it right and make it fun (incorporating it with other forms other than calls)? Maybe it will be the same "dud" of a killer feature it was years ago?
