Is there a way to use the image editing feature that iChat has on images other than through iChat? For example I want to use the glow effect on a image I have on my Mac.

There is a (not free sorry) program called Pixelmator. That has all the Quartz effects in it, including glow. It's a good image edtitor. There is a demo here www.pixelmator.com

Maybe someone else has an idea on how to use the quartz effects on a photo for free.

Hmm, I was hoping I didn't need to download anything, and just use the effects.

If you install the developer tools from your installation disc, you get something called “Core Image Fun House” that lets you play with the effects. I did it a few years ago on Tiger and turned one of my photos into a nice wallpaper.

I see, well I'll have to try this out when I get a hold of my install disk.

    Thanks!

Not sure if this is a SL only thing, but I was poking around in Automator and they now have an option to apply a quartz filter to a picture or a pdf. You could whip up a quick automator script to apply the filter to pics.
