iChat issue - text not displaying, unable to have a conversation

    Hello, I am long time lurker but first time poster.

    I am a senior MS tech who only dabbles with MACs. I have an issue with my MAC at home that I haven't been able to resolve. I am hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.

    iChat (using to connect to AIM) isn't displaying text on IM sessions. I can send an IM, it will be received on the other end but I can't get any IMs back nor will my IMs be shown in the IM session.

    I have done some first level troubleshooting. Tracked changes on the laptop, nothing correlates to when the problem first started. Forced a software update, no luck. Rebooted, no luck.

    Any suggestions?

    Solved this one on my own ...

    Noticed that 5 IM sessions were opening when restarting iChat. Closed them all out and restarted iChat. But the same old IM session windows reopened when the app started.

    Went into iChat preferences and removed setting to remember open windows when starting.

    Restarted iChat one more and did a test IM session. This resolved my problem. I can now chat again and see the text in the sessions.

    Maybe this will help someone else. Cheers.
