iChat issues?

In certain networks I can sign on to iChat but after like three messages ichat says it can't handle data transfer. Then when I quit and restart it does the same thing.

I tried downloading adium and the same thing happens. Is it the network? Because it works on other networks. Also other computers in the network work fine.

Any ideas?

iChat has never worked right for me. I switched to Skype about a year ago. I like it much better!
