Did the app get a rewrite or is it the same lipstick on a pig we've been using?

i also will like to know the answer to this , so if i don't misinterpreter , did apple change the messages app for a new app calle ichat or they just rewrote and improve the old version with a new look or it look just the same

They'll probably rewrite it for 10.13. They would have said something about it.

What does it mean to a rewrite an app from scratch? Why would they do that rather than fix any bugs filed? At best, they probably rewrite certain modules in the app but they won't rewrite the whole app from scratch as that is not worth the ROI.
