For whatever reason, I cannot video chat with anyone who has a PC.

The green camera icon appears next to their screen name, and there will be an error when either I, or they initiate the chat.

Any siggestions on what I can do?

Might double check on the router(s). Even if you don't have a stand-alone router, a lot of cable/dsl modems have a one built-in.

I, and they, are plugged directly into an ethernet cable.

both computers are plugged into the same cable? like a splitter?

No. I meant that neither of us are using a router. Both of our computers are plugged into our respective ethernet cables at our separate houses.

But, your ethernet cables plug into something - DSL or Cable Modem. Many of them have firewalls, which puts your ethernet connection on a LAN.

i.e. Router.

note: Some ISP's may block some streaming content ports. I know of one, in particular - Clearwire wireless internet. But, in either case the problem is most likely blocked ports.

my experience with video chatting between AIM and iChat has been very difficult. very rarely does it work and occasionally i can get audio, most of the time however it doesnt work. i just video with other people using ichat, good luck with it
