my brother just went to college with a macbook.. i have an imac without an isight.. We have used video conferencing when he was home, and it was fine.. and even video conferenced with friends at other colleges.. But now we are trying to do a one way video conference.. and it wont connect, i get an error.. why is this happening? I want to get an isight on my computer, but dont want one if i cant get it to connect with him..

i don't know if it would make a difference, but has the person with isight tried to intiate the video chat first?

How is the MacBook connected to the university network? Router? Firewalls?

You might also try Skype with Video and/or Yahoo Messenger.... just FWIW.

well i cnt figure it out.. i thought maybe it was on his end.. but he did a video conference with one of his friend at another university.. then i thought it was on my end.. so i opened all my ports.. but just remembered we once did a video conference with that same kid.. so what can be wrong?

Try out the suggestions here at Ralph Johns' support pages for iChat. He's a fixture over on the Apple Discussion Boards about this very topic.

can i do a one way video conference in skype? I dont have an isight yet, im waiting for the next revision.
