icloud adding duplicate songs

I have some duplicate songs on my ipad and was wondering if icloud separates them when syncing icloud? For example, I use a ipad 3 and iphone 5 and I use icloud for the devices. On my ipad, I have around 1900 songs and on my iphone I have 1100. Does icloud detect the duplicate songs on my ipad and only load 1 version on my iphone? Hopefully this all make sense.
