iCloud and iPhone

Forgive me if this is somewhere else.

Am I wrong, but when I put a Contact or Calander Event on my Mac isn't it supposed to automatically synch to my iPhone? And even the reverse, from iPhone to my Mac or am I missing something?

If that is how it is supposed to be I have something wrong because it is not working.

Any Help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I m using iCloud service since its inception. I have never seen any problem syncing with iCloud enabled devices.

Try hitting update button on contact app in iPhone or uncheking-checking calendar setting.
