Well, I was trying to figure out how to best sync documents between my old 2011 Mac and my new 2015 MB Air and I made the fatal mistake of clicking the box to store my documents in iCloud. Basically, iCloud has taken over my documents. When I try to cancel (still uploading since there is at least 750G in my documents) it says my documents will not be available on my Mac but only on iCloud.

I backed up before attempting. Should I just stop the upload, delete what is in iCloud and import my files back in?

First thing I'd do is make a backup of my backup using another, non-cloudy, Mac.
Paranoia is sometimes called for. This sounds like one of those times.

Well, I was wrong...the upload was complete. About 65g. I have a back up on an external drive from before this was initiated. I made a folder in my "Pictures" folder for the Documents and pasted all of them back into it.

Now, all I have to do is unclick the iCloud button and deleted the iCloud files.

Will it revert back to a normal "document" system? Or am I stuck with my doc being in my Pictures folder?
