iCloud backup contacts issue

I have not purchased extra storage for iCloud, i have the free 5GB of storage that comes with iOS 5. It says i don't not have enough storage available when i go to back up my contacts. is it possible i have more than 5GB of contacts?

Is your backup taking a majority of that space? I noticed my iPad was trying to backup a few gigs of photos before I turned that portion off.

i turned off all backups except for contacts
