iCloud.com with Gmail

Can I set up icloud.com in my Gmail account? If so can you tell me how please? I have tried a few times but it refuses, is this because icloud.com is IMAP, not POP email?

I think you need to be more specific about what you're trying to do…what you've asked doesn't really make sense.

Ok sorry. I use Gmail a lot on the web and wondered how to send and receive from it with my iCloud account, basically. Only I tried several different ways Google suggest but none work, but I put a very old email address of mine in there and that was ok.

You want to consolidate your iCloud email into Gmail's webmail in some manner? Perhaps you should describe what you want to happen in some detail.
