iCloud contacts not fully syncing.

So I just upgraded my Iphone 6 to an Iphone 7 plus. I signed into my icloud account and my photos didn't transfer, nor did about half to maybe 3/4 of my contact list (Some did transfer though). Can anyone help me out with getting the rest of my stuff? On my old Iphone 6 it says my last iCloud backup was 11/14/16 and I have went to my Iphone 7 plus and turned the contacts off then back on, still nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

bump: So on my phone I can type in someones name, and the number pops up, but it isn't in my contacts app.

If your contacts are stored in separate groups, that may be the reason. I had the same problem with my phone until I stored all my contacts together in one group in addition to separate groups. After that, they synced properly.

How do I check this? Not really sure what groups are.

When you open the Contacts app do you see a Groups option at the top left?

Yes and it has All Icloud and ##NEWEMOJI check marked.

And when I go to my messages app, I can type someones name in and it will come up, but once i send the text message the name isnt there anymore just the number.

I had this the other day. I think it's an iCloud bug. Had issues getting other Apple apps to sync over iCloud too. Tried logging out and back in to iCloud which initially didn't help. Left it a few hours and it sorted itself out.

What you see in Messages are likely simply recent numbers you used which is separate from contacts.

Nope. I had the same issue.

I signed out and back in, still nothing, I'll let it sit for a few hours and see if anything magical happens.
