Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong here. I've bought by own domain from a company called IONOS and I've set up an email address me@mydomain.com. Using the very basic webmail facility, provided by IONOS, I can receive email from my icloud account and also reply. The problem occurs when I attempt to set up the custom domain in iCloud+. I go into settings, Custom Domain and set the domain up. At this point, it looks good:

"Step 3: Finish setting up the domain
The domain "mydomain.com” is registered with IONOS. After all emails are verified, continue to sign in with IONOS."

It is step 2 I'm struggling with. I enter "me@mydomain.com" and confirm to send a verification mail. But this verification email is never received by me@mydomain.com. I've now clicked re-send on this multiple times to no avail.

Is there something I'm missing? Moreover, how would I get support on the iCloud side?

Have you set up the MX records on your Domain to point to Apples Mail Servers? You would do this somewhere in the IONOS panel. I can't say where, to be honest IONOS are the joke of the hosting world. Probably ok for a domain.

Thanks for confirming my direction. I haven’t but I did find what you are asking, eventually, when I googled setting it all up manually.

Ok, I'm setup. One thing that did become more apparent this time around. In addition to what I wasn't doing, it also become clear that either Apple or my domain provider had a problem over the weekend. I deleted the domain from my icloud account to start completely afresh. When I added it back in, I immediately received an email of instructions from Apple and the whole process was more hands on from Apple's end. I've just successfully tested <me>@<my_surname>.com.
