iCloud drive and contacts sync on iOS 7

I want to upgrade to iCloud drive. However, my wife has an iPhone 4 on iOS 7 and I want our contacts to still be synced.

From what I've read on various websites I conclude:
- I can upgrade my iMac and iPhone 5s to iCloud drive and documents will be synced between these devices
- my wife's iPhone 4 cannot be upgraded to iCloud drive, but contacts and calendars will still be synced between all our devices. However, documents will not be synced towards/from my wife's iPhone 4

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?
