Running Yosemite and 8.1 beta 2. Have iCloud Drive enabled on both. My understanding was that all photos could be put in iCloud Drive and accessed from any Mac/iOS device running iCloud Drive. Is this not the case?

no... the only way to put photos from your mac to iOS , is to go to Aperture (or iPhoto) and choose some photos , then right click, share to iCloud .

I misspoke...was thinking of iCloud Photo Library...I enabled it on my iPhone but dont see anything on my Mac....will dig around some more...thanks.
