iCloud Drive Downloads Folder

Can anyone confirm if in macOS Monterey, are the ~/Downloads folder and iCloud Drive Downloads folder linked? It never made sense to me that my iPhone & iPad share the same Downloads folder but the Mac does not.

I don't have an iCloud Drive Downloads folder, so I guess they aren't linked. That's a relief, you had me worried for a moment.

I would imagine that on your Mac you download larger files, do you really want your MacOS installler to sync on your iPhone?

The files are stored in iCloud but accessible from any device. Not taking up storage on the phone.
