Can the cloud drive be used to seamlessly store my music library rather than store it on my air's memory? Its about 120 GB of music

No... iCloud Drive is a folder on your Mac that gets synced to iCloud. So anything you sync there will need to be in that local folder on your drive.

A service that will do what you want is iTunes Match. That service can be used to store all your music in the cloud and free up drive space.
