Hopefully someone here can explain whats happening with iCloud Drive.

I have a Microsoft account and thus installed the one drive app on my desktop (OS Sierra). During the installation process I selected iCloud Drive for the location of the one drive folder. I didn't realize that under the folder icon for one drive it says "ineligible" is there a way around this? I would like to use iCloud Drive as the folder location so I have backups of my work files with Apple and Microsoft.

When I setup the onedrive app it lets you select where to put the onedrive folder the contests of which are backed up online. When I placed the folder in icloud drive, the onedrive folder synced with Microsoft however the one driver fold had text below it indicating it was "ineligible" and was not uploaded to icloud.

Those cloud apps are just a view into an online service, not an actual folder, so how can you place one service inside another?

Dropbox, Onedrive and iCloud all have local copies. The local copies sync with the cloud copy. You can't chose where the iCloud files go but you certainly can for Dropbox and Onedrive.

However I wouldn't advise nesting them. I use all three but keep them well apart.

I don't doubt what you're saying, but the concept of local copies of cloud-stored documents is absurd.

Hey Rusty,
Did you work out how to do this? I want to do it to.
Thank you.
