Hi guys I did a search but can't seem to find a definitive answer on this.

I bought my mum an iPad intending to set up iCloud so she can email, FaceTime, iMessage etc BUT she has never used a computer in her life and therefore never had an email address. When I try and create a new iCloud account for her, its asking for an email address to create her apple ID with but of course she has no email addresses. I was under the assumption that by creating an iCloud account for her she would have a new @me email with it? I did try creating an email alias for her with my own @me.com account but when I try and use it to create the iCloud account it simply says to log in with your existing MobileMe password. The last thing I wanted to do was create a mumsname123xyz@yahoo/gmail/hotmail account for her to get this thing up and running, as she will be stuck with it for her apple ID username from what I can gather.

It seems as though there is no way to accommodate people who are in my mums position, have I got that right? Looking forward to some feedback from you guys as always.

Oh dear, problem solved, a bit of stupidity on my part... 🙄

I wrongly hit "use existing email address" to create the iCloud account instead of "get a free iCloud address". Ooops.
