iCloud help

I downloaded a song from iTunes on my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) this afternoon. I do have iCloud set up and functional. Now, when I turned on my MBP, running the latest iTunes and OS X software, I do not see my recent purchase in my iTunes library.

My question is, am I understanding how iCloud works incorrectly? Shouldn't it appear in my iTunes library on any device that has iCloud operational?

Theres a setting in iTunes to enable automatic downloads. Need to toggle that before that'll work- its independent of iCloud.
