The owner of the phone used iCloud lock so that no one will ever be able to use the phine if stolen or lost.

    You are out of luck.

Why did you not hand it into the police before you left the country?!

That when someone steals a phone the owner at least can make it so that thief (you, in this instance) doesn't benefit from it.

You can still carry it with you and people will think you have an iPhone. No one would know that it's not working.

Imagine all the awesome fake gaming, fake conversations with hot girls you'll never really be able to talk to in real life, and the fake web surfing you'll be able to do. It's going to be an awesome imaginary year.

In fairness the owner doesn't need to do anything except log into iCloud and enable Find iPhone. This is one of the better software decisions Apple have made recently. Good to see activation lock working as it was built to do,

It's an un by passable security feature where the true owner has locked their phone from cretins like you.

So your friends told you not to bother handing it in to the police and keep it? Do you always do as your friends tell you?

Hand it into the police or ask us how you can locate it's true owner to return it to them rather than asking how you can defeat the security.

Karma's a b*tch. Do yourself a favor and mail that phone to a police station in the city you found it.

If you don't understand, the cool thing to do, would be to try and return the phone ... then you will never grasp onto the fact, the owner of the phone doesn't want the vermin who stole his phone to benefit from their dishonesty.

There will always be a few like you around ... didn't your parents raise you to do what's right?
