I don't understand, the world has to start and end with Apple only, why? Note 8 is actually available at International price levels.Looks like the alternative is actually to buy previous generation models.
50gb is a bit unreasonable. I think 10 gb or maybe 15gb is fair.
Google gives you unlimited storage for back up. I don't think merely 50GB us unreasonable...
I don't care... Not using iPhone anymore... Enjoying every bit of Android
Well it should at the very least be per device. So if they stick with the 5gb and you have iPhone and iPad you should get 10gb. Google gives unlimited for photos on iOS and dont even require their device! And 15gb for their drive storage again simply for creating an account no device purchase required. So you spend $$$$$$ with Apple for multiple devices and get 5GB total, really?!? And they sell 128/256gb devices and cant even have enough storage for a full backup? They REALLY need to re-visit this.50gb is a bit unreasonable. I think 10 gb or maybe 15gb is fair.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but how can you tell when that happens? I’ve emailed three out of state friends this year with whom I’ve had regular correspondence. One email was to answer a question one of them had for me. I never heard back from any of them and did wonder if something happened to my outgoing emails but I couldn’t see that anything had. I got no notice of delivery failure. At some point I’ll try to follow up with them with a phone call but I’ll wait awhile in case they got busy or are traveling. Lol, that is one downside of leaving Facebook. I don’t know these sorts of things about my friends anymore.Versus Google on the server side, Apple absolutely sucks. Just one example: Take Apple Mail. It's slow and sometimes mail simply gets stuck in the outbox and may never ever be able to be sent. Contrast with Gmail on iOS. You see your email instantly without fail.
Apple is really a client oriented company and its strengths show in the quality of its client hardware/software versus Google's client hardware/software.
Sorry but compared to Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive .... iCloud has a LOT of work to do. I'll keep using Google Drive for now. It handles my 93GB of photos/videos (98k+) like a champ, storing them for free, and OneDrive happily backs it up with no problems in less than a day (I do this a few times a year).
Please let this mean iCloud is moving out of Eddy’s org.
Thanks for taking the time to help me!An "outbox" option would appear listed in your left sidebar with the sent messages which didn't go through, the sidebar you toggle it in/out by clicking the "Mailboxes" option ( View attachment 724220 ).
Prefer to keep my datsa out of Google's hands as much as possible - don't even want my pictures on iCloud.I use both and that's why I switched Photos, Calendar, Contacts & Files to Google years ago.... works like a charm on all my devices.
Thanks for sharing your views. That's insane based on what you said. That's a lot of hassles. At this point, what is your stand with ios/osx then?

Pixel 2 lured me to check it out. Lol yes, you're not the first to point out my avatar. Hahah
IMO Jobs' biggest failure when he came back to Apple was being unable to convince Dropbox to sell to them. Jobs was smart enough to know this is where things were going, but he wasn't able to get it done. Managing cloud services was never really his strong suit and though iCloud has improved, as your story relates they have a long way to go. The fact that people are excited they can use third-party cloud services with the Files app instead of the native iCloud Drive support should tell Apple that their silo'd file philosophy is not what people want. Yet they've doubled down on it.

I don't think Apple makes GREAT Hardware. GOOD LOOKING HARDWARE YES!! KICK ASS CUTTING EDGE FAST HARDWARE=NO
I have numerous MAC Laptops and iMacs and Mac Pro's at home with Bad Video Cards, Bad Hard Drive slots on the Mac Pro's
These Days almost anyone can build a PC that blows away anything APPLE offers in HARDWARE today
APPLE's only STRENGTH has always been in Software. ALWAYS just a good Software Company.
IBM and the G5 PowerPC Chip made APPLE shine in Hardware. NO More
INTEL Hardware has always been mediocre .
Yes. I also agree.@Shirasaki
I went 100% cloud in 2011. It was awesome to be able to access my files from any device anywhere. In 2011 I went to Google Drive. I always had a backup on my hard drive but only did it a few times a year. It's been freedom and very awesome.
Google Docs.... I don't think I can ever go back to a static file. The ability for 10+ people to access one document at once is awesome. I can leave the Doc opened on my work computer, use my laptop to modify the same document even though it is opened on my work computer when I'm in a meeting.... I realize I'm going a little off topic so I'll stop.
The cloud is awesome. lol.
Yes. I also agree.
What I do not agree is to treat or advertise cloud service, especially storage, as central hub of everyone’s file. They are not the replacement of people’s hard drive. They are not the replacement of local storage. Instead, they are rather centrally managed remote storage, a huge cluster of hard drives sitting somewhere in the world.
Collaboration, file transfer, multi point access. These are what cloud shines.
Apple pushing people to “backup everything to the cloud” is a bad move.

Because google monetises the people who use their devices. Apple doesn’t, which is why it makes sense for people to pay for the extra storage which they would use.
