Symptoms are

1) keychain stops synching or syncs very slowly
2) can't turn keychain off properly (greyed out button or it re-ticks itself)
3) can't turn keychain on (stuck at the loading wheel)
4) can't activate keychain via device approval (stuck at pending after approval)
5) can't active keychain via recovery key (wrong key or error)
6) CAN eventually activate keychain via device approval but than it won't import the passwords so my list stays empty
7) CAN eventually approve via secuity code and it works as usual

I wonder what's going on and if it relates to either 8.1.3 and 10.10.2.
The rest of iCloud seems to be fine although Continituy has been working less reliable the last few days. Signing out and back into iCloud has also been a bit slow recently.
Apple must be doing some icloud work, I hope, because keychain has been seriously iffy for 2-3 days and I never really have problems with iCloud.

My keychain is still having major sync issues doesn't matter what I try. The turning off and back on bit seems to be fixed and no longer gets stuck, same for activating keychains on new devices. However syncing still does not work reliable since the latest OS X and iOS updates.
Anyone with keychain having the same issues?

I had issues like this and got fed up with it a while ago (early days of keychain). One of many reasons why I broke down and started using 1Password for all my passwords and no issues since.

Yeah I just like keychain because it is integrated into ios and OS X and that's all I use. Its also more secure from the get go because it uses two factor authentication by default and not 1 master password.
Yes it has less feature than last pass and 1 password but to be honest all I need is passwords, credit cards, personal info and secure notes and keychain gives me all that. I also never had problems with it since it was launched, it all started to go crazy the last 2 weeks which could be a borked update. Can't give up that easily especially when I never really had iCloud problems before:D

You don't need 2 step verification with 1Password.
  1. It's not web based. So it's not like you can log on to a website and hack into it, it's locally stored on the device
  2. For a person to get to my stuff they need:
  • My phone (info is stored locally unless you want to use iCloud or Dropbox to sync, and those can be protected by 2 step verification as well)
  • My password to my phone (not 4 digit pin either)
  • My 18+ character master password

When I used iCloud keychain, my one big fear was a total reset by accident. I read on here it happened to some people. Now with 100+ log ins, I can't risk that.

It's just an idea. iCloud keychain is good, but just a few things were annoying and bothered me.

Fair enough I appreciate you help.
