Well, it's a security feature. Removing it would mean it's no longer a security feature so, yeah. It's permanent.

Now if you're asking how to DEFEAT iCloud lock, then that's a question the mods here frown on and threads like that tend to get deleted by them.

Defeating iCloud lock is not possible and discussion about that (defeating a security feature) is not allowed here.
