I have set up iCloud for mail, contacts, calendars, tasks, and notes as a secondary iCloud account but the same issue happens when it is a primary account too. The Apple ID I am using was an old MobileMe trial ID that I have reactivated and converted to iCloud. The Apple ID is a .mac address when viewed on Apple's ID management page.
My issue is that on my iOS devices the email account is shown as XXX@mac.com and it will not send mail. I can receive mail when is sent to xxx@me.com. I have no way to change the email address and seem to be stuck. It works correctly when using iCloud in Apple mail on the mac, iCloud.com, and outlook on the PC.
Has anyone else had this issue?
