I use icloud mail and forward my gmail to that as well. Last night it had a notice on the bottom left of iCloud mail "moving messages 6 of 10,000". And it doesnt move. It doesnt have that blue bar that shows the progress. its stuck. I tried deleting the gmail account and unchecking mail and restarting but nothing works.

How can I get mail to stop this process?

One last resort is to turn off the email accounts, delete the contents of ~/Library/Mail, and then re-add the email accounts and to them load from scratch.

I was having this issue two days ago with an Exchange account and I was able to do the above process but only deleting the proper subfolder of that “Mail” folder I referenced…the folder that contained the data from the Exchange account. It straightened me out.
