iCloud Mail vs. GMail: shared and iCal calendars

I would like a personal e-mail, but wondering if I should use my iCloud Mail or my GMail. Mail and contacts can be synced fine with both services on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. But what about calendars? Can I setup a shared iCal in iCloud Calendar and view it on my devices -- if so, how? This part is working fine in GMail.

Well, nobody's replied to this and it might not matter to you anymore, but you can set up calendars and share them with ANYONE (read-only) or share with write access with other iCloud users with a .mac or .me account. And iCloud calendars will work on Mac OS Lion or iOS 5.
