I received a text and for some reason I lost 7 years worth of history with that individual, it completely got deleted from my phone, all my other devices and iCloud!! I can’t believe this is happening! It’s just one individual too. This is the beginning of the end for me.i called Apple and they most likely can’t do a thing about it . I have lost complete confidence in Apple

Are there any programs I can use to retrieve the deleted messages from my phone?

It’s in iCloud but just that one individuals text was deleted , apple has no idea how or why this happened. It has shaken me to my core in terms of how safee and reliable iCloud service really is!

Do you happen to have a local backup to your Mac/PC from prior to this incident?
I didn’t back it up to my pc due to limited space because my phone is 256 go so I purchase iCloud storage. My trust and confidence has diminished with cloud storage. This is a hard lesson learned.

That is a peculiar case. Have you tried checking for texts in iCloud usage section?
How would I do that?

I restored and older iPhone and it wouldn’t give me that individuals texts but downloaded all other text messages from all my other contacts.

Go to Settings and tap on the section that displays your name. Then iCloud->Manage Storage->Messages->Top conversations

If it's gone from all iCloud connected devices, it must have been deleted somehow. Your only option, and I don't think Apple does this, but to see if they can somehow restore it.

I am awaiting word from the engineers and what steps they will try to resolve the issue. I am holding no hope that they will fix it. I am sure it’s close to impossible for me to delete anything from iCloud as it’s encrypted

If you iMessage enabled in iCloud, do you have another iOS device you can set up to see if that particular conversation shows up?

It deleted it from 3 of my devices but have and old iPhone with some of the conversation on it I will try backing that up and see how it goes. Thanks, you reminded me of an old phone that’s been in a drawer for years

How do you enable or disable iMessage in iCloud? I didn’t know you could.

Settings - Apple ID (at the top) - iCloud - Messages
