iCloud Music Library messing up with ALAC files

For years iCloud Music library worked great for me but now when I add an ALAC file to my music library the iCloud Music Library status just sits at "waiting" forever. When I close Music app and relaunch it shows two entries for the song I added - the original Apple Lossless version marked as "removed" and a lossy version marked as "matched" but not downloaded. See the attached screenshot. This now happens for every ALAC file I add to my music library.
