iCloud, new, confused and clueless

Hi,

So this is my first attempt working with iCloud. Got my new iPhone 5 and figured i'd give it a try. So i set it all up, got my iCloud email. However, how does the sync work and When? Can i force it manually? is there a secret button? I have new names in my address book on my iphone that i imported from face book and i dont think anything is syncing correct bc on my mac they dont appear in address book. My calendar seems to have double entries....what a mess all this is.

Sync typically happens when iCloud says it's time. I have had luck forcing sync by just opening the app you wanted to sync (Contacts, Mail, etc.)

I only have snow leopard, is it true I need lion or higher?
