I set up a new Ipad with a device password then logged into iCloud in the normal apple id way. I subsequently redid that installation without a device password.
When i tried to log into icloud on an old iPad I entered apple id and password. I was then asked for 2-factor code from my iPhone which i entered. I was then told my account was being protected by the new iPads password. I had to enter the device password from the original activation of the new iPad.
After I do this everything seems to work but I would like to know if this is something new with iCloud.
