I bought 50g of storage for my icloud and under photos. i have icloud photo library toggled on and download and keep originals checked on.

If i set up my iphone x as new and then log in with my icloud, will all the pictures download to my iphone x?

I want to just make sure photos download to my phone, i don't want to do a back up.

hope this makes sense.

Assuming you have the space on the iPhone for all your photos... Yes, Download and Keep Originals will bring the entire iCloud Photo Library onto your new phone.

I'm not sure about "I don't want to do a backup" - did you want to stop using iCloud Photo Library after the photos are transferred to the iPhone? You could do that by turning off iCloud Photo Library after all photos have been transferred to the phone. However, if you use iCloud backup, your Camera Roll (which returns if you turn off the Photo Library) normally gets backed up to iCloud - you'd have to turn that off in your backup settings if you wanted to avoid using iCloud storage for your photos.

Yes, but it can take a very long time (like a week or more, depending on how large the library is and how fast your ISP's service is).

Yea I’ll turn it off once the pictures are downloaded to my new iPhone. I don’t have many. Maybe 1000

Thanks!

How do I get the pictures to download to my new phone. I see them in the iCloud section. Saying 11 gb. But how do I download them to my new device?

Settings> Photos> Download and Keep Originals. Once that is set, you wait. There's really nothing you can do to speed it along, just make sure you're on a good Wi-Fi connection and keep the iPhone on external power to keep it from going to sleep. It is a very slow process, and gradually they will download in full resolution.
