I've been trying to use iCloud Photo Library on my Mac and iPhone 5S. I've used "optimised" in iOS to save storage space.

I've been using iCloud Photo Library since it was launched.

I can bet money on the fact syncing falls apart after a few days. The whole system is a great idea, but completely unreliable in reality.

I've tried everything, from deleting all photos from my iPhone and turning back on iCloud Photo Library, to formatting my iPhone, etc.

The problem isn't from my Mac and Photos. They seem to work fine. The problem is iOS. For example, after a re-install, everything syncs up okay. Maybe even for a few days, even, things seem fine. Then Friday night comes and I take a bunch of photos and videos. I edit the good ones and delete the bad ones, etc. Then, when I'm back in wifi range, the sync falls apart and it says something like "66 items to upload".

Nothing happens. For days. The more photos and videos I take, the more that number increases.

So I end up sending them all to Dropbox and sync from there.

Importing photos and videos - via a cable - to Photos on my Mac doesn't work properly either, because the edited pics are not imported; the originals are. Which is counter intuitive.

I've now turned off iCloud Photo Library, for about the 8th time, and resyncing.

Furthermore, iCloud.com is a mess too. My "hidden" folder isn't even there. There are duplicate folders (WTF?) of folders I've created, and old folders that I deleted on my Mac and iPhone are STILL in iCloud.com.

iCloud Photo Library, across devices, is unusable.
