iCloud Photo Library - Selective Use

Is there a way to activate iCloud Photo Library on my account and exclude a particular Mac from uploading all the old pictures it has? I would ideally like to keep them on the Mac and going forward have all new images uploaded to iCloud Photos. I would settle for excluding that Mac from the process all together if it needs to be.

Sure, just don't turn on iCloud Photo Library on that Mac. You have to explicitly turn it on for every machine/device you want using it. If you leave it off it just acts like it always did, with the local library.
