Why didn't the Apple TV get iCloud Photo Library with the new update? It's the only device that gets left out.

Really? Mine just shows photo streams and shared libraries.
I have Photo Streams turned off everything and just use Photo Library. However, you can only see Shared Albums unless you setup Photo Sharing in iTunes / File / Home Sharing which is what I do because I want to have access to more. Same logic for under Screen Savor.

Is real subtle, I upgraded my parents mac mini and turned on iCloud photo. It took a day, but all their photos on the mac are now on the atv3 screen saver.

I think all that is different in atv3 is it says iCloud photo (or something like that) instead of photo stream.

other than that no major differences.

Same here...

I also expected to be able to access my iCloud Photo Library without Home Sharing...iCloud-only if you will. As in going to iCloud Photos on the aTV and seeing the full library there, pulled down from iCloud servers, not from my local Mac via Home Sharing/iTunes.

I was actually pretty surprised that iCloud Photos on aTV didn't allow this, especially after I did the update the same day as 10.10.3 launched. I don't get it.

Apple also makes no mention of aTV at all where iCloud Photo Library is concerned. They mention iPhone, iPad, Macs, web, etc....no aTV. Seems like accessing the IPL via Apple TV natively was a no-brainer.

I agree. Only supporting Shared Albums is not what I want. Of course you can create a lot of Share Albums pretty easily. We really need Smart Album Sync support across all platforms. I do not want to manual create and maintain regular albums and shared albums unless I have to. Also, really need a better Family Sharing Options with multiple iPhones and iCloud Accounts.

Maybe it is coming????

It should also support Favorites. Are you sure it's not?

I see.

I think the intention of Apple TV is to show your favorite photos.

Agreed. What I want is to use my favorite photos from iCloud Photo Library as a screensaver on my Apple TV. I suspect they might get around to this eventually, but the priority was Photos for Mac and iOS. It's kind of disappointing.

Yeah, just found out there's no way to view Favorites. What a disappointed.

I think there is a work around if you have a mac, start up iTunes and under home sharing you can pick albums. You should be able to create a smart album of your favorites.

Worse case you can create a stream call favorites and send you favorites there.

Neither is perfect, but could work.

I think to create the smart album you have to select all favorites and add a keyword of say Favorite (example) then you could select that form iTunes. Very strange the ATV can not see Favorites when you can see them on the Phone.

I really hope Apple improves this soon.

But could explain what you mean by "create a stream"? I am not familiar with that.

My mistake on iTune Sharing. You can imply select Favorites in Home Sharing. I only selected some of the folders and did not check it.
