Hello everybody,

I don't really use iCloud photos after it was taking up a lot of my storage and I pay for Google storage anyway. So last September when I got my iPhone Xs, I decided to stop backing up photos in both spots and just stick with Google.

I was setting up my new iPad yesterday and turned off any iCloud and Photo related options. I came back later and it downloaded around 8 gigs of photos to my iPad from iCloud, with photos ending in September 2018.

I definitely don't want these here and taking up space, but it seems like there's no way to have them in the cloud but not stored locally on my device. Super weird. I went on iCloud.com and deleted every picture on there but it seems to me that it doesn't sync with photos that have already downloaded. I'm guessing I'm going to have to manually delete every picture from my iPad. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm getting my iPhone 11 Pro later today and I don't want these old pictures syncing to my device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
