I'm using the new iCloud photos app and my iMac, iPad and iPhone. They have all synced and update each device when I make changes but the totals aren't the same. It counts my videos correct at about 300 but the photos are wrong.

iMac shows 12,878 and stores full images.
iPhone shows 12,874 and stores optimised.
iPad shows 12,861 and stores optimised.

I know it's not many but why should they be different and how do you mind the missing ones?

When I did the import when Photos first came out, I ended up missing 3,200+ photos. Or I would click on a photo that was over to Photos ... only to get an error message that it was not on my hard drive or missing file. I'd go back to iPhoto and export that image to "pictures" in finder and then into Photos.

The only way I found the "missing" photos was looking at the individual folders I set up years ago. I still have more to go through. I've backed up my iPhoto file to a jump drive, besides the TM backups.

So I would have to see what you see is normal so far.
